This morning started in the same way that most of our mornings have begun. We woke up with the sunrise, made coffee, showered, and readied ourselves for the day. But today was different. It could be because this was our second last day in Hawaii (we leave late tomorrow night). It could be that we had one too many drinks the night before (which was so not the case). Or it could be that we woke up with a major sense of anticipation and excitement.
Around 7:00am this morning, the anticipation and excitement grew. We were met at the front of our hotel by Rick’s friend Rob. Here we awaited our early morning taxi. But this was no ordinary taxi. This was a taxi for Skydive Hawaii. That’s right folks, today we woke with the knowledge that we were going to jump out of a plane.
And we did, and it was EPIC. Absolutely freaking EPIC. But words can’t describe the experience, so instead I offer you this slide show. Enjoy.
Following skydiving, we returned to Waikiki for a bite to eat, some coffee, and a bit of a rest. While vegging in the hotel room, the following conversation occurred.
- Rick: I think I smell.
- Dan: Adrenaline smells.
- Rick: What does Adrenaline smell like?
- Rick & Dan (in stereo): Adrenaline smells like AWESOME.
And it’s true. It really does smell like AWESOME.
BEST. VACATION. EVER.
I shall miss you long time Hawaii. Long time indeed.
P.S. I have now crossed off item #40 on Dan & Rick’s List-o-Awesomeness, and item #19 on my Not-So-Bucket-List list. woot!
P.P.S. A special thanks to Papa Dop and Nicole (the photographer) for an amazing day, an awesome and safe jump, and for getting me back to the ground in one piece. I can’t wait to do this again.
