Happy High Five Day

As I mentioned yesterday, today is the hand slapping-est day of the entire year.  Are you excited?  You should be.  Anyway…

Happy High Five Day all y’all.

Today it is your patriotic (or nerdly) duty to high five as many people as you can.  And who doesn’t like a high five?  No one, that’s who (except maybe Rick I guess).

But at least Rick is a good sport about it all, as illustrated in the following Jumping High Five Photo Of Awesomeness.  What about you?  Are you a fan of the High Five?  If not, why not?

Jumping High Five of Awesomeness

Personally, I think High Fives are awesome.  They typically bring a smile to people’s faces, and that can’t be bad.  In fact, I saw the following High Five Escalator pictures on WIN! a while ago, and immediately wanted to do the same thing (the YouTube video is also provided below).  How awesome would this be?  And clearly, Rob and his friends are bringing unexpected joy to those people who were lucky enough to pass by on that particular day-o-awesome.  I would love it if someone high fived me on my way to or from work.

For those of you that aren’t into the high five thing, perhaps make today about spreading joy in some other way.  Smile a little more, or compliment someone for a job well done.  The point is not necessarily in the high five, it’s in the fun and joy that a high five brings.  So if you can accomplish that in another way, by all means do so.

There is a part of me that wants to do this.

For those that might question the legitimacy of this day, might I just add that the founders of National High Five Day have decided to create a not-for-profit charity.  The goal, raise sufficient funds to create a High Five Scholarship that will be used to send someone to university.  Technically this is specific to the United States, but the goal is awesome.  You can find all the details here, in the event that you might want to contribute to their cause.

High Five Everyone!

I love how everyone responds.  Skeptical at first, but then all smiles.  AWESOME!
